Presented in collaboration with SECCA in honor of their exhibit “Cubans: Post Truth, Pleasure and Pain,” Cristina Garcia will speak about her new novel, Here in Berlin. Garcia’s newest work Here in Berlin is the story of people, war, and identity. The city itself becomes a character within the book’s pages. Born in Cuba, Garcia is a former Miami Bureau Chief and TIME Magazine researcher and reporter who has transitioned to fiction as a way to share her stories. In addition to her seven novels, Garcia has edited two anthologies of Cuban and Mexican literature, respectively, and published two children’s books and a collection of poetry. Free to attend, but please register online. There is also an option to pre-purchase your book and lunch: http://cristinagarcia.brownpapertickets.com
