ATTENTION | SCHEDULE CHANGES
The Williams Adult Day Center will be
CLOSED | MONDAY, OCTOBER 9
to plan and prepare for our move.
Tour the new
Williams Adult Day Center!
Ahead of our move, we want to give families a chance to learn more about the new space, take a tour, and get important information to help prepare for the move.
Construction is progressing on Senior Services Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness (Generations Center), which will serve as the new home for the Williams Adult Day Center. Our program will have the largest space in the new Generations Center, allowing us to better serve you and even more families who need us.
We are slated to move from our 231 Melrose Street location to our new address—114 West 30th Street (located on our Shorefair Drive campus) in late October.
We’re excited to make our new home in the Generations Center!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
When are we moving?
Construction is progressing and we currently expect to be able to move to our new location in late October. Our tentative plan is to stop operating at the Williams Center (Melrose Street) on Thursday, October 26. We will need to take a few days to move items, complete inspections, and receive certification from the Division of Aging and Adult Services before we re-open the Williams Center (30th Street). We are targeting a start date of Tuesday, October 31 in our new space.
Construction and inspections can be unpredictable, so as we approach these dates things may shift a bit. We will provide more specifics as we get closer to the move.
What is the new address?
The Williams Center will be located at:
114 West 30th Street, Suite 400
Winston-Salem, NC 27105
The building is located on our Shorefair Drive campus and just 4.5 miles (a roughly 10-minute drive) from our Melrose location.

What can I expect to be different in the new space?
You can count on the same great service and support you've come to expect from the Williams Center!
Our new and larger home will also allow for some nice additional benefits for families enrolled at the Williams Center:
- 50% more space and an open floor plan to maximize engagement and activity throughout the day
- Dedicated space for music, arts, sensory, large and small group, and lounge activities
- Sun room with large windows overlooking an intergenerational play space
- Participant kitchen area for a home-like feel and staff-led cooking and food activities
- Larger salon and spa tub spaces to accommodate personal care needs. The spa area has both jetted tubs and showers
- Family waiting area, with increased opportunities to share activities, photos, and moments with you!
- Opportunities for more intergenerational engagement, arts, and wellness activities with Generations Center partners
- And much more!
Will the current location also remain open?
No. We will only be operating one adult day care/day health center. The Melrose location will stop operating and we will re-open the Williams Center at it's new location in early October.
Will the Williams Center get a new name?
The Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center will keep its same name as it moves to its new location. We will always be the Williams Center!
What do I need to know about transportation?
Families that make use of WSTA/Trans-Aid to access the Williams Center will continue to have access to their services at the new location. Senior Services has notified Trans-Aid of the upcoming move and will verify any next steps you need to take as the move date gets closer.
If you use a taxi or Uber service to arrange transportation you will need to be sure to update the destination address prior to your loved one's first day.
Will I have a chance to tour the space before the move?
Yes! We are planning information sessions and tours before the move. Currently, we are targeting dates in the latter part of September and will send out invitations to families in the coming weeks. Please be on the lookout and sign up for one of these sessions. Tours will also be available after we move, to help you get familiar with our new space.
Will my loved one need to re-enroll?
No. It's the same program, just a new location. Everyone currently enrolled will be eligible to move with us to the new space! There will not be a need to re-enroll at the new location.
How can I stay informed about the transition?
We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this process.
