Do you love art and helping people?
Opening Minds Through Arts (OMA) is an intergenerational evidence-based intervention that pairs volunteers with older adults living with dementia. Volunteers work with Senior Services’ participants as partners to create abstract art projects that engage the mind and break through cognitive barriers for a new level of expression. Typically, each OMA cohort runs for 11 weeks. Volunteers participate in one training session for the first week and then spend the next 10 weeks working directly with participants to create art.
The next OMA cohort will run as a 10-week session that meets once a week from May 12, 2023 through July 21, 2023.
- Training will be held on Friday, May 12 from 1:00—5:00 PM.
- Art sessions with participants will begin on Friday, May 19 from 10:30—11:30 AM. Each session will meet for 1 hour every Friday through July 21.
