A passing stranger is welcomed into Salem Tavern by a cheerful group celebrating Christmas Eve. The story he tells them is magical, and yet vaguely familiar… It’s 1887, and hard times have fallen on the people of Winston and nearby Salem. Tobacco rolling machines are replacing manual jobs, and bad rains have hurt farms. Making things worse is Ebeneezer Scrooge, a lender who’s foreclosing on mortgages and ruining the holidays for everyone. In the heart of Old Salem, can three spirits teach him the true meaning of Christmas? This heartwarming world premiere adaptation was written exclusively for The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem.
The Little Theatre will present An Old Salem Christmas Carol December 7-9, 13-16 & 20-22 at SECCA. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 pm; Sunday matinees are at 2 pm. An additional matinee will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 2 pm. Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for students; discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
