Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

A new group designed to support older adults raising minor relatives.

A New Avenue of Support

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a new support group being offered by Senior Services designed specifically for older adults in Forsyth County, aged 55 and over who provide kinship care, or in other words, are raising a minor relative. Monthly meetings will include the opportunity to discuss both the challenges and joys of kinship care with peers in a safe and supportive environment. A variety of experts will also be invited to attend meetings and provide information about available resources and answer questions.

According to the federal Administration for Community Living, there are more than 2.7 million children in this country being raised by older family members.  American Community Survey data reveals that there are more than 87,000 grandparents raising their grandchildren in North Carolina, which means you are not alone!

Join us as we build a community of support to walk alongside one another through this journey.
