Q: I live out of state, and my mother will be moving into an apartment that will not accommodate all of her furniture. Where can I donate her leftover household items?
A: The types of agencies listed above take various household items—from appliances to couches to clothing—and may provide pick-up services. You can phone them or check online to find out their locations and to learn what kinds of items are acceptable as donations.
