Spring Lecture

February 18, 2020 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Free

Wake Forest University’s Office of Continuing Studies announces an evening lecture exploring the Presidential Nomination process. The 2020 presidential election is scheduled for November 3 but what happens between now and then can be confusing and frustrating. The earliest caucuses and primaries occur throughout February in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina followed quickly by Super Tuesday on March 3 when North Carolina’s voters will have the opportunity to let their voices be heard. What exactly does it mean to have your voice heard and how does your vote really count?

Dr. John Dinan, Professor of Politics and International Affairs, Wake Forest University will explore the process in his lecture “The Presidential Nomination Process: Is This the Best Way to Select Candidates?” Dinan will focus on the nomination process, how well it works and how it might be improved. This timely lecture will give North Carolina voters an opportunity to better understand how we move from campaign to primary to the actual nomination of the candidate.
