Community Conversation with Piedmont Wind Symphony

Saturday, March 14  | 3:00 pm at Bookmarks

Join the Piedmont Wind Symphony for a community conversation around “The Road to Freedom”. The road to freedom is never easy, but music can help move us forward.  The Piedmont Wind Symphony’s performance on March 28th will include music with varied connections to the Civil Rights movement in the 1950s – music by William Grant Still, music dedicated to Rosa Parks and Medgar Evers, Concerto for Saxophone and Wind Orchestra featuring Robert Young of UNCSA, and Symphony No. 3 by Vittorio Giannini, founder and first president of UNCSA – interspersed with readings of poems and letters from this era. Come discuss the music and the history.
