AmeriCorps at Senior Services
Senior Services is partnering with an AmeriCorps host agency (The Servant Center) to host a part-time AmeriCorps member on site at our agency. We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to serve older adults living with dementia and their care partners. The part-time position will work within our Aging Resources team, and specifically as part of the Dementia-Care (D-Care) national research project, to support families navigating a dementia diagnosis.
What is the D-Care Study?
We are partnering with Wake Forest Baptist Health to participate in a national research study comparing the effectiveness of health systems-based dementia care versus community-based dementia care. Researchers will investigate the effects on behavioral symptoms of people with dementia and their caregivers’ distress levels as they participate in the study. Click here to learn more about D-Care.

What will the position involve?
Senior Services is partnering with the The Servant Center to host a part-time Americorps position this year.
Senior Services is seeking a care consultant to help individuals and their families enrolled in a dementia care study navigate their diagnosis.
This part-time position would work 20-25 hours each week providing telephone support, resource information, and care management and consultation to participants. The position will learn and be responsible for following research protocol for a national dementia care project. Hours available Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00am-2:00pm.
Who are you looking for?
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or gerontology and have some experience and/or interest in working with older adults or people living with dementia. Any experience working to navigate, understand and share community resources and assisting with care management a plus.
