Q: How do I obtain a North Carolina identification card?

A: There is no fee charged for a North Carolina ID card for a resident of the state who is legally blind, is at least 70 years old, is homeless, or who has been issued a driver’s license that has subsequently been canceled as a result of a physical or mental disability or disease. Click here to learn more about the No Fee ID card. These cards can be obtained through the North Patterson Avenue or Silas Creek Parkway DMV offices. Appointments can be requested to minimize wait times.

Q: What are the benefits of having a Senior I.D. Card in Forsyth County and how do you get one?

A: These senior discount cards are distributed at the Black Phillips Smith Government Center (2301 N. Patterson Avenue). You must be 60 years of age or older, present a valid photo ID and pay $.35 if you want your senior card laminated. Cardholders can receive half off city bus fare, discounts on monthly bus passes, free entry to every city pool, discount golf at Winston Lake and $1-a-day fishing at Salem Lake. This card can also be presented at local businesses that have an established senior discount day. This card is provided by the city for Forsyth County residents.
