Q: Help, I need a place to stay quick!
A: Many of the above resources are intended for short-term emergency situations. Many are not equipped to care for older adults who have significant mobility impairments or health needs or to accommodate pets or children. Many rely on public funding and community support to operate. Most serve all ages, but some are gender-specific.
Q: I need somewhere for my grandmother to stay while I go on vacation. Is there a resource to help me?
A: If a caregiver is in need of a short-term respite break, then a long-term care facility or retirement community might be an option. Several long-term care facilities in this area offer short-term respite. Financial resources would need to be assessed for these options along with paperwork from your primary care physician.
