AKAs Volunteer All Day for “The Longest Day”

Our Longest Day Heros

Postings |

The Alzheimer’s Association designated June 21, 2017 as the “Longest Day” to bring attention and support to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Members of the Phi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority helped to do that and so much more. They volunteered at the Williams Adult Day Center from opening until close. The ladies provided caregivers and staffers with breakfast, afternoon snacks and goody bags to thank those who do so much daily for those living with dementia. That’s not to mention serving lunch, engaging in activities with participants and even power washing the awnings!

“We simply want to help the members of our community who are living with this disease but not only them, we want to support the caregivers – to let them know they are not alone. There is no better place in Winston-Salem to show our support than here at the Williams Adult Day Center,” said Gayle Heyer, president of the chapter.

Your group can make a major impact on senior’s lives in Forsyth County too!
