Senior Services will open its doors on
Saturday, March 2 at 10 A.M. for the third annual Art Show and Sale Benefiting Meals-on-Wheels. This year’s show and sale is presented by
Wells Fargo in honor of the Medlin family and in memory of John G. Medlin, Jr., who served as a member of the board of directors of Senior Services. Artist and Senior Services board member Dell James and her husband, Dr. Frank James, a former director of the Senior Services Foundation, Inc., are the event’s honorary chairs.
As in past years, an exciting selection of art―varied media at all price levels―by local well-known and collectible artists will be available for purchase, and the public is invited to attend, free of charge. More than
45 participating artists will donate a portion of their proceeds to provide nutritious meals for the homebound elderly through Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels program, which last year celebrated 50 years of serving our community. More than 1,220 senior citizens receive meals through the program each week day, and a cadre of 1,500 volunteers helps with home delivery. During the spring of 2013 the agency will celebrate the delivery of its
five-millionth meal!
The one-day show and sale will run from
10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Senior Services Center, 2895 Shorefair Drive, at the corner of Deacon Boulevard and Shorefair Drive (just behind the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds). The event is open to the public free of charge.
